Expectations on making money

One thing that should be done with anything in my opinion is to have a goal. If you don't know where you're going you probably will never reach your destination. So set goals for yourself when it comes to Hubpages. How many hubs do you want to write in a week, or how many words would you like to write in a day? Do you want to make a certain amount of money, how much? Break your goals down so you can look into how to reach them. And after you learn what people are saying you need to do - then try them and see if they do work.

To earn money on Hubpages you can set goals in different ways. Write down how much you want to make in your first month and be realistic about it. What do you have to do for that goal? Write, write, write, is one of the things you will need to do if your answer was more than nothing. You will also need to learn more about online writing. I would recommend getting a book or two as well as reading everything you can online.

Hubber Advice Hubs

All of the Hubber Advice hubs that I have written have to do with making money on Hubpages. There are links to all the other ones at the bottom of this hub. Take the time to read them and think about what I say. Most all of that is background information and basics. If you are new to online writing, those hubs will work on some of the basic knowledge for you. Besides understand the basics you will need to understand that you need to keep learning until you find something that works for you.

Losers and Quiters don't earn Money

If you lose your desire to meet your goals and/or you quit writing, then you won't make any money. Online writing and any freelance work for that matter requires you to set goals and not give up on them. You will need to have drive to what you want and never give up. And if you do give up, get off your butt and start again.

I will admit that when I started, not too long ago, I did very well my first month. Then the couple of months after my first full month I went down a total of 66% from my first full month. I came back third month and wrote some more and my revenues went up a little. Then my son was in the hospital for a month and I didn't write for a couple months. When I had time to get back I forced myself to start sitting down and writing. The last few months, I generally receive around a 30% increase in revenue every month. I started writing again and I started making money again too.

The write thing to do

Besides everything I have written in the Hubber Advice series I would recommend going through the tutorials that Hubpages puts out in the Learning Center. After going through the Learning Center as well as the Hubber Advice hubs you may have information overload, but keep referring to them until you understand what is going on and you know it. Some people make more off the eBay capsule than the amazon.com capsule and things of that nature. These are all things that you will need to experiment with.

So, I am saying "the write thing to do" is learn the vehicle that you will be using to make money online. In this case, I am assuming Hubpages for the time being. Learn what the different capsules do and how to take advantages of their strengths. And making money online is generally not a fast cash deal. Give yourself time.

Writing Online for Money

Money takes time

If you read a lot of the stories from the Hubbers making $1,500 a month and what not; you will understand that this took them years to accomplish. And any author from Hubpages that is making money by writing, how many hubs have they written? I should ask, "How many quality hubs?" Because, I bet they all have at least 800 hubs published and they are most likely still producing a good number of hubs. Keep putting quality hubs out there and do not give up. Making money takes a different amount of time for each one of us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, post in the forums, or ask on the questions wall. Good luck - and don't give up!

Do you think sports Football (Soccer) related articles are good enough for earning on Hubpages?

Thanks

It matters what your niche in soccer was. The Manchester United Credit Card pays an average of $10.89 per click. Manchester United Shares keywords go for about $7.99 per click. So they are not huge there but I only looked at one team I knew off the top of my head.

Just soccer or European football is less than a dollar per click. If you looked around enough you could find a few things without a lot of competition.

I hope that you stick around, 3 weeks is not a long time for starting out. Try to get in the habit of writing a couple hubs a week. If you want to increase this or decrease this - just keep on writing. It also takes time for articles to mature and gain links etc. Keep writing.

Hi CJ! Very encouraging Hub. I just started here as a way to earn some extra change and get back into writing. Do you consciously place keywords in your hubs to promote traffic? Setting a goal for a volume of hubwriting is one thing (meeting my goal of a hub a day so far!), but it's definitely important to plan carefully if you wish to monetize, rather than writing willy-nilly. What methods have you found best for earning noticeable change at HP? Much appreciated!

The biggest thing for me has been creating links to be honest. I do not always look at keywords, but I have been rather lucky to have good paying keywords even when I ignore them. Links bring people to read your stuff and possibly buy something from amazon or ebay.

Great. I'm not sure how to build links, or how many links each hub needs. I obviously don't want to be impolite and spam forums and comments with links, but I can't really think of another way to direct traffic to my hubs. Do you link back form another writing platform (such as your own blog) or find relevant forums and leave links in comments?

When I have some time I will send you some links or post them here. Give me a day or so but I will try to be more specific and explain things clearly.
